Daal Fry



Ingredients:
  • Toor daal: 1 cup
  • Chana daal: 1/4 cup
  • Ghee: 2-3 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds: 1 tsp
  • Whole Dried red chilli: 1
  • Garlic paste: 1 tsp
  • Ginger paste: 1 tsp
  • Onion: 1 (large) (chopped)
  • Tomatoes: 2 (chopped)
  • Green chilli: 1-2  (chopped)
  • Clove: 1-2 (crushed)
  • Hing: a pinch
  • Garam masala pwd: 1/2 tsp (optional)
  • Turmeric pwd/ haldi: 1/2 tsp
  • Amchur/ Dry Mango pwd: 1-2 tsp
  • Salt: to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves
Method:
  1. Wash and soak all the daals in water for 10-15 mins.
  2. Add salt, haldi and pressure daals with approx. 3 cups of water. Take 1 whistle and cook on low gas for 15 mins. 
  3. Tempering:
    • Heat ghee in pan. Add mustard seeds, whole red chilli, hing and cloves. Cook for a min.
    • Add garlic paste, ginger paste, amchur and green chilli . Cook for a min.
    • Add onions. Cook for few mins. Add tomatoes. Cook till tomatoes are done. 
  4. Add tempering to the dal. 
  5. Garnish with coriander leaves.
  6. Serve with chapati or parantha or rice.
