Ingredients:
- Toor daal: 1 cup
- Chana daal: 1/4 cup
- Ghee: 2-3 tbsp
- Mustard seeds: 1 tsp
- Whole Dried red chilli: 1
- Garlic paste: 1 tsp
- Ginger paste: 1 tsp
- Onion: 1 (large) (chopped)
- Tomatoes: 2 (chopped)
- Green chilli: 1-2 (chopped)
- Clove: 1-2 (crushed)
- Hing: a pinch
- Garam masala pwd: 1/2 tsp (optional)
- Turmeric pwd/ haldi: 1/2 tsp
- Amchur/ Dry Mango pwd: 1-2 tsp
- Salt: to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves
Method:
- Wash and soak all the daals in water for 10-15 mins.
- Add salt, haldi and pressure daals with approx. 3 cups of water. Take 1 whistle and cook on low gas for 15 mins.
- Tempering:
- Heat ghee in pan. Add mustard seeds, whole red chilli, hing and cloves. Cook for a min.
- Add garlic paste, ginger paste, amchur and green chilli . Cook for a min.
- Add onions. Cook for few mins. Add tomatoes. Cook till tomatoes are done.
- Add tempering to the dal.
- Garnish with coriander leaves.
- Serve with chapati or parantha or rice.
