Ingredients:
- Rajmah/ Red Kidney Beans: 1 cup
- Onion: 1 (chopped)
- Tomatoes: 3 (chopped/ pureed)
- Green chilli: 1 (chopped)
- Ginger Garlic paste: 1 tsp
- Salt: to taste
- Turmeric pwd: 1 tsp
- Oil: 2-3 tbsp
- Cumin seeds: 1-2 tsp
Method:
- Wash rajmah and soak overnight in ample water (~3 cups).
- Next day, add soaked rajmah in pressure cooker (alongwith water in which they were soaked), salt and turmeic pwd. Take 1 whistle on high flame and then heat for 1 hour on low flame.
- Seasoning/ Tadka:
- Heat oil in pan.
- Add cumin seeds. Let them splutter. Add ginger garlic paste and green chilli. Cook for a minute.
- Add onion. Cook till they turn translucent.
- Add tomatoes and cook till they are done.
- Switch off the gas. Keep it aside. (You could blend the seasoning into more fine paste before adding to the cooked rajmah, if you prefer)
- Add the above seasoning to the cooked rajmah and again take 1 whistle on high flame.
- Cook on low flame for 5 mins.
- Serve hot with rice/ parantha.
