Sweet potato/ Shakarkandi




Benefits of Sweet Potatoes :
They are high in Vitamin A, C, B6 and a very good source of fiber. They contain special proteins that have antioxidant properties. They also have anti- inflammatory properties.Sweet Potatoes are one of the most nutritious foods that help to control diabetes (slowly releases sugar in the body) and reduces the risk of heart disease and cancer. They also helps in controlling weight.

Ingredients:
  • Sweet Potato/ Shakarkandi: 2-3
  • Salt: to taste
  • Sugar: 1-2 tsp
  • Black Pepper pwd:  to taste
  • Chat Masala: to taste
  • Lemon juice: 1-2 tsp

Method: 


  1. Wash sweet potato properly.
  2. In the pressure cooker, add sweet potato, sugar and water (~ 1/2 cup). Take 1 whistle on high flame and cook for 3-4 mins on low flame. Turn off the gas.
  3. Now, peel sweet potato and cut it into medium size pieces. Sprinkle salt, black pepper pwd, chat masala and lemon juice.
  4. Ready to serve hot. It goes really well with sweet and sour Tamarind sauce.
