Chana Rice



Ingredients:
  • Basmati Rice: 1 cup
  • Onion: 1 (chopped)
  • Tomato: 2-3 (pureed/chopped)
  • Kabuli chana/ chickpeas : 1/2 cup (boiled)
  • Ginger (grated/ chopped)
  • Salt: to taste
  • Red chilli pwd: to taste
  • Tamarind paste: 1-2 tsp 
  • Oil: 1-2 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds: 1-2 tsp
  • Black Cardamom : 1 (coarsely grinded)
  • Black pepper corns: 3-4 (coarsely grinded)
  • Cloves: 2-3 (coarsely grinded)

Method:
  1. Wash and soak rice in water (2 cups) for 10-15 mins.
  2. Heat oil in pan.
  3. Add cumin seeds. Let them splutter.
  4. Add black cardamom, black pepper, cloves.
  5. Add ginger and onions. Cook for few minutes. 
  6. Add tomato puree,rice (with water in which it was soaked), tamarind paste,  salt, red chilli pwd and boiled chana.
  7. Take 1 boil and cook on low flame for 10-15 mins till done.
  8. Serve hot.
PS:
  • You can also add chana masala
