Orange ki Barfi


Its a famous Nagpur Dessert as Nagpur is famous for oranges.



Ingredients:
  • Maida/ Plain Flour: 1/2 cup
  • Ghee: 1/4 cup
  • Sugar: 1/2cup 
  • Milk: 1/2 cup
  • Orange: 1
  • Orange Color:  1-2 drops (optional)
  • Orange Peels: peel of 1/2 orange (optional) (You can add peel of 1/4 orange if u dont want to make it too sour)  
  • Dry Fruits (chopped) (optional)
Method:

  1. Heat ghee in kadai/ pan.
  2. Add maida and cook on low flame till it it leaves sides and turns light golden color. Keep it aside.
  3. Peel orange and take out pulp. (You can squeeze out juice and sieve it. This will give approximately 1/2 cup juice)
  4. Syrup:
    •  Take another pan and add milk, orange pulp/juice, sugar and orange peels. Cook on medium- high flame for 20- 25 minutes. Add orange color and stir.
  5. Add the above syrup and dry fruits in the maida(cooked above) and mix well. Cook on low flame for 5 minutes till the mixture leaves sides of vessel (that is, the ghee starts separating from the mixture).
  6. Put the mixture on greased pan and spread it evenly.Sprinkle chopped dry fruit on it.  Let it cool (You can also put mixture in fridge for 10-15 minutes )
  7. Cut it into any shape (square, rhombus) and Serve.
