Ingredients:
- Toor Daal/ Arhar Daal: 1 cup
- Vegetables:
- Drumstick: 1-2 (chopped into pieces about 3 cm long)
- Ladyfinger: 4-5
- Brinjal: 1(small sized) (chopped into medium pieces)
- Onion: 2 (chopped)
- Tomato: 3(chopped)
- Mustard seeds: 1 tbsp
- Curry Leaves/ Kadi Patta: a few
- Sambhar pwd: 1 tsp
- Salt: to taste
- Tamarind or Imli Pulp: 1/4 cup (or as per your taste)
- Turmeric pwd: 1 tsp
- Green Chilli: 1(chopped)
- Oil: 2-3 tbsp
Method:
- Wash daal properly.
- In Pressure cooker, add daal, water, salt and turmeric pwd. Cook on low flame for 10 mins (Don't cover the lid).
- Now add ladyfinger, brinjal and drumstick to above daal and cover the lid of the pressure cooker. Take 2-3 whistles and turn off the gas.
- Tadka/ Seasoning:
- Heat oil in pan. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
- Add curry leaves. After a few mins, add onion and green chilli.
- Cook till onion turns translucent.
- Add tomatoes and cook till tomatoes are done.
- Add sambhar pwd and tamarind pulp. Coo for another 2-3 mins.
- Turn off the gas.
- Add the above seasoning to the pressure cooked daal .
- Serve hot with rice, utpam , idli or dosa.
