Namkeen Daliya



Ingredients:
  • Daliya: 1 cup
  • Washed urad daal : 1 tsp
  • Raw Peanuts: 1 tsp
  • Salt: to taste
  • Tomato: 1 (chopped) or Tomato paste: 1 tsp
  • Onion: 2 (chopped)
  • Mustard seeds:  1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds : 1 tsp
  • Green chilli : 1 (chopped)
  • Curry leaves: a few
  • Coriander leaves: (chopped)
  • Oil: 2-3 tbsp
  • Red chilli pwd: to taste

Method:

  1. Heat 1 tbsp oil in pan. Roast daliya until it turns light golden brown. Keep it aside.
  2. Again heat 1 tbsp oil in pan .
  3. Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds. Let them splutter. Add curry leaves.
  4. Add urad daal and peanuts.
  5. Cook on low flame for 3-4 mins until daal and peanuts turn golden brown.
  6. Add green chilli, onions and cook till onions turn brown.
  7. Add chopped tomato or tomato paste. Add salt and red chilli pwd.
  8. Add roasted daliya and ~ 4cups of water. 
  9. Cover and cook for 10-15 mins till done on low flame.
  10. Before serving, add coriander leaves.
