Ingredients:
- Bengal Gram/ Kale chaana: 1 cup (washed and soaked overnight in ample water (~2-3 cups))
- Onion: 1 (big) (chopped)
- Tomato: 1 (big) (chopped)
- Coconut: 1/2 (First peel the brown cover to get white part only and then grate it or chop into pieces)
- Garlic clove: 1-2 (chopped)
- Garam masala: 1 tsp
- Coriander pwd: 1-2 tbsp
- Red chilli pwd: to taste
- Curry leaves: a few
- Black pepper pwd: to taste
- Salt: to taste
- Oil: 2-3 tbsp
Method:
- Pressure cook bengal grams with salt and water(in which they were soaked). Take 3-4 whistles and cook on sim gas for 1 hour.
- Take oil in pan. Add garlic, onions, coriander pwd, red chilli pwd, black pepper pwd and garam masala. Cook till done. Add toamto. Cook till done.
- Add coconut. Cook for another 3-4 minutes. Turn off the gas. And let it cool. Grind it to form a fine paste.
- Take another pan. Add a little oil. Add curry leaves. After 1 min, add the above paste and boiled bengal grams. Cook for 5-7 minutes.
- Serve hot with aapam, dosa, idli, rice or any chapati/ parantha.
